One of the more anticipated Bowman releases every year arrived earlier last month as we saw the release of 2023 Bowman Sterling Baseball. We finally got around to opening our yearly box and the review is in! Below are our thoughts on the product as well as the hits from our box.
In each box you’ll find on average:
- 5 Autographs
Bowman Sterling has been one of the more popular Bowman products to be produced over the last few years. It comes loaded with 5 autographs per box as well as having numbered parallels and featuring a number of top rookies and young prospects.
If you’re into prospecting the next big name talent in baseball, then this is a product you’ll enjoy. As I’ve come to fall in love with the numbered autographs as the card design looks awesome. I’m also a fan of some of these products that mix rookies and prospects in the same product. It makes it seem like you're getting better value in your boxes.
Of course I can’t talk about this positively about the product and not open a box. So I was excited when we were finally able to crack one open, even though it was over a month after its release! Here are all the hits from our box including a big low numbered autograph!
We’ll start this off with all of the rookies we hit in our box. While our shop is located in the St. Louis area, it’s funny how we tend to hit Cardinals cards. As we hit almost all of the Cardinals rookie from this year including Jordan Walker.
Next up we have our parallels. We had 3 different parallels in our box. Two of which were the ‘mini diamond’ parallels numbered to 150 copies of Anthony Gutierrez and Justin Crawford. Our other parallel was a Gavin Cross ‘Magenta’ parallel numbered to 75 copies. Cross was taken 9th overall in the MLB draft in 2022.
Finally, we have our autographs. We had 3 base autographs in our box which included Jaison Chourio from the Guardians, Gabriel Martinez from the Blue Jays, and Jordan Beck from the Rockies. We also had a Chase DeLauter autograph numbered to 100 copies. DeLauter was the 1st round pick for the Guardians in the 2022 draft.
But wait, there’s more. Our 5th and final autograph was of NL Rookie of the Year Award Winner, Corbin Carroll. We hit an Orange autograph which was numbered to 75 copies. This card is going to be sent to PSA for grading as we hope it will come back a PSA 10!
