For the first time since Panini announced Prizm WNBA a few years ago, we finally get a new WNBA release. As 2023 Panini Origins WNBA Basketball hit the shelves at Sports Card Market. Boxes are now available for purchase in store and online now.
In each box you’ll find on average:
- 2 Autographs
- 1 Memorabilia Card
- 2 Base Parallels
- 2 Inserts/Insert Parallels
As someone who watches a lot of basketball at just about every level, I really don’t mind the WNBA. It’s a strong focus on fundamentals and not nearly as flashy as the NBA, which I think could be part of the reason why it doesn’t get as much love and viewership.
When it comes to this specific product, I’m a fan of this release. I’ve always liked Origins Basketball for the design on the RPA’s and the inserts as well as the base card design and this product sticks to that. It’s got a nice clean design that Panini has come to be known for as well as capturing the top athletes in the sport.
While I was excited to crack open a box, I’ll make a note now rather than later. We did not receive 2 autographs in our box which really stinks, but mistakes happen. Below are all of the hits in our box.
Starting off with all of the base cards and base parallels that we hit in our box. Our one numbered parallel was an Allisha Gray numbered to 75 copies.
We hit two different inserts one of which was a Rhyne Howard and the other was a Team Origins A’Ja Wilson which has a very cool design.
Next, we have our hits from the box. Unfortunately, we had a little bit of a mix-up as we got 2 memorabilia cards and 1 autograph rather than the 2 autographs. Our memorabilia cards consisted of a Natasha Howard patch and a Arike Ogunbowale numbered to 49 copies.
Finally, we have our autograph which was a Maya Moore Universal autograph which was a beautiful design!
Overall, I’d say this box was pretty good. We hit some solid players who have had some good seasons with their teams however we didn’t hit any big time rookies which is a little unfortunate.
